Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer includes cancers of the mouth and the pharynx area of the throat. If detected early, survival rate can be upwards of 80%; however, if caught during late stages, the 5-year survival rate is only 22%.

Even though an oral cancer screening is performed during routine oral examinations, two-thirds of oral cancer cases are diagnosed in late stages. It is vital to select a dentist who provides oral cancer screening services to prevent and win any battle against this deadly disease.

In order to facilitate and effectively diagnose oral cancer, we use VELscope®, a revolutionary, handheld device that facilitates the early discovery of surface abnormalities, which may be, or may lead to, oral cancer. This screening is performed in less than two minutes, at minimal cost per-patient, and without involving rinses or stains.

Healthy gums are an essential aspect to your oral health. If you are the victim of periodontal disease, many cosmetic and general dentistry procedures cannot be performed, such as dental implants, thus compromising your oral health.

Symptoms of periodontitis include:

  • Swollen gums

  • Tender gums

  • Red or purplish gums

  • Constant bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth

  • Loose teeth

  • Pus between your teeth and gums

  • Receding gums

  • Development of new spaces between your teeth

We treat periodontitis with Periowave®, a quick and painless technology that effectively kills gum disease bacteria. Several studies suggest that this is a far superior treatment option to other periodontitis treatment methods because:

  • It is painless, reduces bleeding and facilitates the healthy regrowth of gums

  • Site-specific

  • Safe

PerioProtect are also used to help treat gum disease. They are custom fit trays which deliver an antimicrobial agent below the gumline. Perio tray medication delivery, combined with scaling has been shown to lead to reduction in bleeding and pocket depth.
